Two WRI
Post-Conference Workshops:
The New GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard
and the Product Life Cycle Standard
March 1 (1:30 pm – 5:00 pm)
Hyatt Bonaventure Conference Center
The GHG Protocol recently
launched the new Scope 3 and Product standards to enable
corporations to measure and manage greenhouse gas emissions
across their entire value chain and product lifecycle. For
the first time, companies can measure their value chains and
products using a consistent and credible international

for organizations to make more sustainable decisions about
their activities and the products they produce, buy, and
sell.

Provide the
business case for adoption;
-
Review the
accounting and reporting requirements; and
-
Offer
practical guidance on implementation.
Who should attend?
The workshops are open to all participants of the Climate
Leadership Conference. Companies, consultants, NGOs, and
government representatives can all benefit from the

Destination Gigaton Briefing – World Wildlife Fund
Showcasing a 2012 Initiative to Scale-up Climate
Protection Solutions
March 1,
2012 (1:30 pm – 2:30 pm)
Hyatt Bonaventure Conference Center
WWF recently conducted
research to identify the gap between US private sector
emissions trends and targets and what climate scientists
recommend. After ten years of mobilizing companies to
achieve best-in-class emissions reduction targets through
the Climate Savers program, WWF is poised to take these
lessons to a broader audience. With Carbon Disclosure
Project and other partners, the Destination Gigaton team
will build awareness of the gigaton gap and highlight
efforts to bridge it over the next few years. Our aim is to
energize and convene companies to achieve scaled-up
greenhouse gas emissions reductions and identify solutions
together.
Purpose
The purpose of the workshop is
to:
-
Share the findings from our
analysis on emissions trends in the US private sector and
science-based mitigation pathways;
-
Showcase “Destination Gigaton”
– World Wildlife Fund’s 2012 initiative to scale-up climate
protection work and reinforce the work of our private sector
allies; and
-
Offer participants the
opportunity to preview and help shape the initiative.

Engaging Consumers on Climate Change:
A Roundtable Workshop
March 1, 2012
(1:00 pm – 3:00 pm)
Hyatt Bonaventure Conference Center
Consumer product use often
represents the bulk of a company’s indirect greenhouse (GHG)
emissions, but few companies are willing to risk alienating
their customer base by discussing a hot-button issue like
climate change.
As sustainability becomes the
norm for businesses, consumers remain largely disconnected
to the idea of behavioral change as a path to reducing
environmental impact. This session will rely on stakeholder
participation to flesh out ideas on how companies can
effectively manage their message to consumers on climate
change, responsible consumption and proper product disposal.
Purpose
The purpose of the workshop is
to:
-
Identify consumer engagement
best practices related to climate change;
-
Discuss the obstacles and
risks associated with causal marketing; and
-
Develop a list of constructive
takeaways that can be implemented by participants.
Who should attend?
The workshops are open to all participants of the Climate
Leadership Conference. Companies, consultants, NGOs,
government representatives and the general public can all
benefit from this session.
What is the cost?
There is no fee to attend.
When and Where?
The Consumer Engagement
workshop will be held at the Hyatt Regency Bonaventure
Conference Center from 1pm – 3pm, March 1, 2012. A box lunch
will be provided.
