Destination Gigaton Briefing – World Wildlife Fund
Showcasing a 2012 Initiative to Scale-up Climate Protection
Solutions
March 1,
2012 (1:30 pm – 2:30 pm)
Hyatt Bonaventure Conference Center
WWF recently conducted
research to identify the gap between US private sector
emissions trends and targets and what climate scientists
recommend. After ten years of mobilizing companies to
achieve best-in-class emissions reduction targets through
the Climate Savers program, WWF is poised to take these
lessons to a broader audience. With Carbon Disclosure
Project and other partners, the Destination Gigaton team
will build awareness of the gigaton gap and highlight
efforts to bridge it over the next few years. Our aim is to
energize and convene companies to achieve scaled-up
greenhouse gas emissions reductions and identify solutions
together.
Purpose
The purpose of the workshop is
to:
-
Share the findings from our
analysis on emissions trends in the US private sector and
science-based mitigation pathways;
-
Showcase “Destination Gigaton”
– World Wildlife Fund’s 2012 initiative to scale-up climate
protection work and reinforce the work of our private sector
allies; and
-
Offer participants the
opportunity to preview and help shape the initiative.
